For her works Paradise, Toning the Sweep, and The First Part Last, she has earned three Coretta Scott King Awards, as well as the Michael L. Printz Award. For her picture book When I Am Old with You, she received a Coretta Scott King Honor and a Printz Award. Angela was designated a MacArthur Fellow in 2003 for her remarkable achievements. She currently resides in Kent, Ohio.
