Set in the prosperous Manchester suburb of Didsbury, Taken for a Ride combines a rich and deep vein of humour with a rarely explored subject matter - old age. Against the background of a Jewish Old People's Home the novel weaves an intricate path through the web of confusion and intrigue that surrounds the dealings of a local estate agent as he tries to exploit those forced to sell their homes.
