He is also the recognised arbiter on betting disputes by Ireland's leading bookmakers and he writes a popular weekly column in the Daily Star on this topic. He is Irish racing correspondent for the Mail On Sunday and has been the recipient of a number of awards for his writing and tipping. He is the author of a highly-acclaimed biography of greyhound trainer Ger McKenna. John lives in Dublin with his wife Patricia; they have three children - Alison, Heidee and Byron.
