Talismans and Evocations of the Golden Dawn by Patrick Zalewski

Practical Magic techniques of the Golden Dawn revealed Founded in 1888, by legendary magicians Wynn Westcott and S.L. MacGregor Mathers, the Golden Dawn has been a major influence on the development of Western Magic. Although the material which inspired adepts such as Alistair Crowley and W.B Yeats has been available, until now there has been little explaination as to how this group performed its rites of ritual magic. Now at last Pat Zalewski, himself an adept within the Golden Dawn system, has revealed secrets that have never before been published or which were only communicated orally to a handful of select pupils. For years people have known that the Golden Dawn adepts could summon spirits so that they could be seen, but no one could explain how they did it. Likewise their techniques of manufacturing and empowering talismans were a closely guarded secret until now. In this book readers will learn the secrets of evocation and how to make Talismans of Power. This book is a very valuable tool into understanding the practical considerations of Golden Dawn ritual magick at its best. The book is a must for serious Golden Dawn students.

Pat Zalewski was born on May 21, 1948, in Brisbane, Australia. Yoga and karate, which he studied in his early teens in Brisbane, sparked his interest in esoteric subjects. He moved to New Zealand in 1970 and began researching the Golden Dawn in 1978 after purchasing a copy of Regardie's book on Golden Dawn ceremonies. Around 1980, he was approached by former Whare ra Hierophant, Jack Taylor, while enquiring about a New Zealand Golden Dawn temple in Havelock North through some local masons. He was invited to learn under him and was aided by a small group of ex Whare ra members. Following a brief correspondence with Israel Regardie in 1982, the two met in August of 1983 in Wellington, New Zealand.

In 1988 and 1992, Zalewski taught and conducted ritual workshops in both Los Angeles and Seattle, and he wrote a number of publications about the Golden Dawn. He returned to Australia in 1999 and resided in the tropical north of the country. During this time, he was honored with a lifetime achievement award from the New Zealand Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2000. He was also inducted into the Australian Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Martial Arts Historian of the Year in 2002, as well as the World Karate Union Hall of Fame, and promoted to 6th degree Black Belt by the New Zealand Sokeship Council.

James Cook University gave him a bachelor's degree in history with honors and a master's degree in history. He has 11 volumes about the Golden Dawn to his credit, as well as a number of academic publications on Australian history.
