At least he was in the 70s when he was the school team's best striker, but now he's just a frustrated 19 year old working in Dublin. In fact these days, Balls O'Reilly seems to be getting all the attention, particularly from Scully's girlfriend, Francesca. Ardal O Hanlon was born in Ireland in 1966. He is best known for his role as Father Dougal Maguire in Channel 4 s BAFTA-Award winning comedy, Father Ted, for which he won Top TV Comedy Newcomer Award at the British Comedy Awards. He is also a stand-up comedian and actor and has appeared in films including Neil Jordan s The Butcher Boy.
