Tassels by Susan Dickens

Following the enormous success of The Art of Tassel Making, Susan Dickens presents another sixteen tassels to challenge your creative skills and make a striking and original decorative statement in your home. These lovely frivolous objects range from the simple to the elaborate with a myriad of unique and stunning finishes. Heads are adorned with intricate decoupage and embroidery, boldly painted beads and ceramics, glowing threads and ribbons, delicate silks and pompoms. Susan encourages you to experiment further with cunningly disguised household materials like aluminium cans, mop cotton and even used rolls from the fax machine! The results are elegant and professional. Tassels takes you step-by-step through the rudiments of tassel-making from the choice and quantity of threads, to detailed instructions of rope-making, to the final embellishing touches. The book boasts clear, concise illustrations by Jane Devine and inspiring photographs by Neil Lorimer. There is also a range of revised techniques to further simplify the process and all the tassels featured will be available in kit form from the author.
Sue Dickens' work reflects her lifelong interest in art and craft. She is well known for her embroidery and tassels, and runs courses and workshops all over Victoria. Her interest in tassels flourished after visiting passementerie houses in France. Her previous book The Art of Tassel Making was a success locally and in the US. Jane Devine is a qualified art and craft teacher and accomplished water colourist. She is also the author of Embellished.
