ROY DOUGLAS is Emeritus Reader at the University of Surrey. He is author of a number of historical books, including The History of the Liberal Party, 1895-1970 and Land, People and Politics: A History of the Land Question in the United Kingdom, 1878-1952; several books on 20th century diplomatic history, and on international history studied through the medium of cartoons.
