Tekkin a Waalk by Peter Ford
This book follows a footloose journey along the Miskito caost, from Belize down through Guatamala, the Honduras to Nicaragua and Costa Rica to Panama. From turtle fishing to spirit dances to getting arrested when washed ashore after a storm on the wrong side of the border, this book combines a curiosity in the human flotsam and jetsam that litter the coast with a shrewd eye for its history; the Miskito and Garifuna Indians have since time immortal been visited with one tin pot pseudo-monarchical regime or another, and the results were, and are, in turn both hilarious and tragic.
Peter Ford is a veteran of the United States Army who has a bachelor's degree in paralegal studies from Kaplan University and a master's degree in business administration from Colorado Tech University. He retired from the army reserves as a public affairs specialist, where he wrote several newspaper and magazine articles during Operation Iraqi Freedom. My God, My Country, My Son is his first book.
