Simon Rickerty graduated from The Royal College of Art in 2006 with a master's degree in Communication Art and Design. His first picture book, Peas, written by Andy Cullen, was published in 2009 and shortlisted for the Booktrust Early Years Award. Simon has gone on to illustrate many more highly acclaimed books for children, including Ten Little Pirates, winner of the Nottingham Children's Book Prize, and Monkey Nut, winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. He lives in Somerset. Mike Brownlow has written and illustrated for a wide range of publishers and his books have been published in many countries. Recent publishers include Macmillan's Children's Books, Piccadilly Press, Bloomsbury, OUP, Ragged Bears, Capstone and Simon and Schuster. After working extensively as an illustrator for magazines, ad agencies, design companies and animators, Mike began to write and illustrate his own books. The second of these - 'Little Robots' - was spotted by Lego Media and made into a stop-motion animated TV series. In Britain, it's usually shown on CBeebies or on BBC2. There have been 65 episodes made so far, and the show has been sold all round the world. In addition to doing all of the character design and some of the pre-production design, Mike wrote several of the episodes. "Ten Little Pirates" is his first book with Orchard. This time he's written the text, but Simon Rickerty has illustrated the book, which represents a new experience for him! He lives in Somerset with his wife, and they have three grown-up daughters.
