Vasant Lad, BAMS, MA Sc, is an Indian native who has been practicing and teaching Ayurveda medicine for more than 20 years. For three years, he was the Medical Director of the Ayurvedic Hospital in Pune, India. For the past 12 years, he has also served as a clinical medicine professor. Dr. Lad studied allopathy (Western medicine) and surgery during his academic and practical training. In Albuquerque, New Mexico, he founded and directs the Ayurveda Institute.
He has taught one of the first full-time Ayurvedic programs in the United States since 1984. Ayurveda: The Science of Self-Healing is written by Dr. Lad.
