For more than two decades, he worked at Time as a writer and editor, and he was the magazine's first bylined film critic, a position he held from 1967 until 1972. He's also the key interviewer in the Academy Award-nominated documentary The Line King and the editor of The Essential Groucho, an anthology of Groucho Marx's comedy. He has received multiple writing honors and is a Literary Lion of the New York Public Library. He splits his time between New York and Cape Cod.
