The New Cross Stitch Sampler Book by Helen Philipps
Four of the 23 contemporary sampler designs offer new interpretations of the 17th century spot sampler, originally used by embroiders to record the stitches they employed. Each of these four introduces a seasonal chapter brimming with delightful designs to keep today's embroiderer happily stitching throughout the year. The superb selection of birth congratulations, wedding, home and garden samplers is complemented by a great range of additional smaller projects such as gift tags, trinket boxes and mini pictures which are based on isolated areas of the main sampler. Every design is accompanied by a colour chart and clear instructions. The embroidered samplers and smaller items are all shown in glorious colour photography sure to inspire the contemporary stitcher.
