There is a Season by Elizabeth Murphy
Cathy grieves at the friction between her beloved husband and her adored son, and constantly strives to keep the peace. Scrimping and saving to feed and clothe her four children on her husband's meagre wages, Cathy is thankful for the support of family and friends in an era of economic hardship.
Elizabeth Murphy was born in Liverpool and has lived in Merseyside all her life. When she was twelve, her father gave her a sixpenny book from a second-hand bookstall, Liverpool Table Talk One Hundred Years Ago, which led to her lifelong interest in Liverpool's history. Throughout her girlhood, she says, there was an endless serial story unfolding in her mind with a constantly changing cast of characters, but it was only in the 1970s that she started to commit the stories to paper.
