A Thousand Blended Notes: Musical Tales of Three Cities by Ronald Watson
This is a collection of reminiscences of a church organist in the North East of England and in Norfolk. Running alongside the anecdotes is the unfolding story of the journey of a non-establishment musician towards acceptance by musicians in the highest echelons of English church music and international recitalists.Ronald Watson's musical inventiveness has manifested itself in experiments in musical notation and in compositions for choirs and for the organ which have brought him recognition and performances, recordings and broadcasts of his music worldwide.
Ronald Watson has been steeped in church music at Parish Church level since his teenage years and has held two significant posts as organist and choirmaster. Whilst earning his daily bread firstly in the construction industry and latterly in Further Education he has been closely involved in the musical life of the three cities that have been central to his musical development, Durham, York and Norwich.
