Janet Stevens is a well-known and award-winning illustrator from the United States. She admits, I wasn't really talented at art when I was a kid, but I liked it. The more I drew, the better I became. When you enjoy doing anything, you will practice more and develop. I now draw practically every day in my studio, and I'm still attempting to improve my work.

Janet was born in Dallas, Texas, the youngest of three children. Her father was a Navy officer, and she moved around a lot as a kid. Lindsey is in her second year of veterinary school, and Blake is an actor in New York City. She now lives in Colorado with her husband, two dogs, and two cats; her two children, Lindsey and Blake, are grown. Lindsey is in her second year of veterinary school, and Blake is an actor in New York City. Janet enjoys depicting animals in human settings.

She employs animal characters to depict the creative process of generating books from a collection of ideas in From Images to Words: A Book About Making a Book. It's a great resource for anyone interested in writing stories, and it's a favorite of both young and old(er) bookmakers. Janet is especially pleased of her prizes, which were chosen by the children in her audience.
