Three by Marquis de Sade by Marquis De Sade
The Marquis de Sade was a French aristocrat, revolutionary, and writer of philosophy-laden, and often, violent pornography. He was a philosopher of extreme freedom, unrestrained by morality, religion or law, with the pursuit of personal pleasure being the highest principle. There is perhaps no more infamous figure in all of literature. Collected here in this omnibus edition are three of his most important works Justine, The 120 Days of Sodom, and Florville and Courval. These are erotic literary classics. The Marquis de Sade was born in Paris in 1740 and served in the Seven Years War as a cavalry commander. Many stints of imprisonment followed his debauched lifestyle, during which he wrote much of his work. He was set free by the revolution and became a fervent revolutionary; however, the publication of works such asJustine and La Philosophy Dans La Boudoir led to his reincarceration, and in 1803 he was judged mad and sent to the Charenton institution, where he died in 1814.
