Tide of Death by Pauline Rowson

It is DI Andy Horton's second day back in Portsmouth CID after being suspended for eight months. Whilst out running in the early morning he trips over the battered, naked body of a man. PC Evans has been stabbed the night before, the DCI is up before a promotion board and Sergeant Cantelli is having problems with his fifteen year old daughter. But, Horton's mind is on other things not least of which is trying to prove his innocence after being accused of gross misconduct. Beset by personal problems and aided by Cantelli, Horton sets out to find a killer who will stop at nothing to cover his tracks. As he gets closer to the truth, and his personal investigations start to uncover dark secrets that someone would rather not have exposed, he risks not only his career but also his life.
"The Harley Davidson-riding, boat-dwelling Horton is a fascinating man to get to know, and his thoughtful approach to detection is a pleasure to read" Publishers Weekly: "A detective novel in the tradition of Rankin and Harvey." Mystery People Magazine: "Deserves mention in the same breath as works in the upper echelon of American procedurals, those by Ed McBain or Joseph Wambaugh and their British counterparts, including the work of Peter Robinson and John Harvey. Andy Horton is an especially good series hero, a likeable fellow with plenty of street smarts and the requisite personal baggage. Procedural fans who haven't already read Rowson should be encouraged to do so in the strongest possible terms." Booklist
Adventure, mystery and heroes have always fascinated and thrilled Pauline, that and her love of the sea has led her to create her exciting and gripping range of crime novels. Pauline Rowson is the author of twenty-two crime novels - fifteen featuring the rugged and flawed Portsmouth detective, Inspector Andy Horton; three in the mystery thriller series featuring Art Marvik, the troubled former Royal Marine Commando now an undercover investigator for the UK's National Intelligence Marine Squad (NIMS), two standalone thrillers, the award winning, In Cold Daylight and In For the Kill and the 1950 set mystery series featuring Scotland Yard detective, Inspector Alun Ryga.
