The Time and Space Machine by Deborah Abela
Max Remy wants to be a super spy. Anything would be better than living with her luvey mother. But when her mum farms her out to her crackpot aunt and uncle and their weirdo friend Linden for the summer, Max isn't exactly ecstatic. She's a city girl. Cows just aren't her thing. Luckily, though, she can hide in Spyforce, the imaginary world she has created. It's bursting with spies, adventure and thrills galore. In fact, there's not a pig in sight. But then Max discovers that her uncle's really a brilliant scientist, on the brink of inventing a machine that can transport people through time and space. Soon Max and the hapless Linden are joy-riding the machine to London, in search of Max's long-lost uncle. But when they get there, they find that the arch-fiend Mr Blue is after him as well. And a top-secret spy agency, remarkably like Spyforce, seems to have a role to play too. What's going on? And can Max and Linden rescue their uncle before Mr Blue drowns them all in a giant green jelly?
