Timebomb by Grant Mckee

Carole Richardson, Paul Hill, Gerard Conlon and Patrick Armstrong known as the Guildford Four, were convicted of planting IRA bombs exclusively on the strength of their own confessions: confessions which they claimed in court were obtained by intimidation and violence. Now they are living through the 14th year of the longest prison sentences ever imposed by an English judge. The authors of "Timebomb" contend that it is the single most serious miscarriage of justice in recent British history. This book tells the story of the IRA bombing campaign of 1974-75 and presents further evidence for the reopening of the case: the testimony of three forensic psychologists and a psychiatrist on Richardson and Armstrong; an independent alibi witness for Paul Hill; testimonies from three of the original terrorists who actually carried out the bombings; evidence of deliberate concealment by the Crown of crucial forensic links between Guildford, Woolwich and other bombings carried out after the Guildford Four were already in custody. The authors are the makers of two "First Tuesday" television documentaries on the Guidlford Four.
