Between 1969 and 1998, over 4,000 people lost their lives in the small country of Northern Ireland. The vast majority of these deaths were sectarian in nature and involved ordinary civilians, killed by the various paramilitary groups. KEN WHARTON is a former soldier who has committed himself to telling the history of the Troubles without pulling punches from the standpoint of the Security Forces and innocent civilians. He has previously written The Bloodiest Year, Bloody Belfast and Torn Apart for The History Press, and was associate producer of the History Channel’s Soldiers’ Stories: Northern Ireland. He has also given lectures on the Troubles at Sandhurst Academy.
