Tokyo ESP 1 by Hajime Segawa
High school girl Rinka Urushiba wakes up to find out she has attained extra-sensory powers, and eventually comes to use them against other ESPers who have begun wage havoc on Tokyo. Tokyo ESP is a fast-paced sci-fi action series featuring well-drawn and choreographed action, mixed in with surreal comedy scenes. Featuring a youthful cast, the series is reminiscent of both X-Men and Fairy Tail (Marvel / Kodansha; both series also available from Turnaround).Hajime Segawa is a character designer and comic artist located in Tokyo, Japan. With the short-story (a comic version of the PlayStation video game Makai Kingdom: Chronicles Of The Holy Tome), he made his cartooning debut in the March 2005 edition of Kadokawa Publishing's Monthly Shonen ACE magazine. Segawa was well on his way to establishing his first feature-length series, GA-REI, by the end of the following year. GA-REI would run for more than five years, spawning a few of spin-off stories and, finally, a twelve-episode animated television series in 2008. Tokyo ESP is his second full-length feature film.
It was also recently made into a two-season animated TV series in Japan. Segawa's stories frequently have supernatural or psychic talents, yet they are virtually always set in modern-day Tokyo and feature teenage protagonists.
