Tom Finney Autobiography by Tom Finney

Tom Finney personifies a vanished golden era of football, playing his entire career under the maximum wage and never wavering in his loyalty to Preston North End. A true gentleman of the game, who is still justifiably idolised more than 40 years since he retired from football, Finney recalls the highs and lows of his marvellous career with a warmth and affection that will appeal to all who read his story. But Finney's life has been about much more than football, and he writes movingly about his current role as full-time carer to his beloved wife, Elsie.
The long-delayed, definitive autobiography of the most honourable man who has ever played sport for England at anything * Ian Wooldridge, Daily Mail *
His humility shines through this warm, nostalgic book.. This book represents a huge thank-you to whichever deity gave him such a rare talent * Chris Maume, Independent *
Sir Tom Finney played his entire career, from 1946-1960, at Preston North End, scoring 187 goals in 433 league appearances. He was the first player to be twice named Footballer of the Year and won 76 caps for England, scoring 30 goals. He was knighted in 1998.
