Jean Gilbert, a multi-award-winning author, relocated from Virginia, United States. She moved to New Zealand in 2005 and has made the Waikato Valley (the Shire) her home since then. Jean is devoted to her profession. Despite her initial interest is writing novels, she has dabbled in various mediums such as film and television. Jean collaborates closely with Alessi Films on promotional advertising and television scripts.

Jean also mentors young authors through national competitions called Write Off-Line for secondary students and Beyond..., which she organizes in collaboration with Young NZ Writers. for pupils at the intermediate level
