Touching the Soul of Islam by Bill A Musk
This volume aims to explain the differences in outlook between Western and Muslim cultures, in order to present the Gospel without creating unnecessary barriers. When a Western missionary or evangelist speaks to a Muslim, he or she has a whole set of presuppositions about the world which are quite different from those of the person whom he is addressing. The book explores a number of these key tensions, including: male and female roles; family and individuals; honour and shame; hospitality and violence; time and space; language and silence; brotherood and rivalry; and resignation and manipulation. Before the Gospel can be presented, Christians have to understand the way in which it is likely to be received. The book sets out a series of guidelines to avoid giving offence and the wrong message. In the process, Musk argues that Christians should reject portrayals of Islam as the great threat to the Gospel. Instead, Christians shold discern what is good in Islam, as a starting point for effective evangelism. In many ways, contemporary Islam is closer in cultural outlook to the Bible than modern Christianity is. Bill Musk is the author iof "The Unseen Face of Islam".SKU | Unavailable |
