Traditional Country Woodworking by Jack Hill

Today's woodworkers can continue to keep this long-standing tradition alive by making pieces according to age-old designs. Traditional Country Woodworking celebrates woodworking as a rural craft and brings to life the many ways that wood has been used for functional and decorative purposes. 18 projects are explained stage-by-stage and are accompanied by colour illustrations and scaled templates for accurate measuring and cutting. The projects are organized in level of ability from novice through to experienced, and also vary in purpose - with items suitable for living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, and outdoor use. A comprehensive section covering What You Need to Know includes all the basic woodworking skills required, along with different choices of finishes and woods that can be used.
Jack Hill is an experienced craftsman, teacher, and writer, dedicated to keeping traditional woodcrafts alive and flourishing. He has written and illustrated several books and contributed regular articles to leading woodworking magazines including a monthly feature, Diary from a Country Workshop for Practical Woodworking, which ran for almost ten years. Now semi-retired, he ran his own well-established country chair-making courses and was a popular demonstrator and competitions judge. Through his teaching at venues throughout Britain and Ireland and in the USA, Newfoundland, Canada, and Finland, his work and his words are well known both nationally and internationally. He is the author of Making Family Heirlooms, Woodworking Tools and How to Use Them, Country Chair Making, and The Complete Practical Book of Country Crafts.
