Gale Bernhardt is one of just a few USA Triathlon World Cup coaches with experience coaching athletes in two Olympic Games. As the 2004 USA Triathlon Olympic Coach for both the men's and women's triathlon teams, she flew to Athens, Greece. This accolade came on top of being named the 2003 Pan American Games Coach for both the men's and women's teams by USA Triathlon. Since 1974, Gale has instructed or coached athletes. Her first Olympic experience was as a personal cycling coach in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. She holds a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University and is a USA Cycling Level I and USA Triathlon Level III Coach.

In both organizations, these are the highest levels imaginable. From 2000 to the present, she has been a member of the USA Triathlon National Coaching Committee, where she has served in a leadership role for five years. She has written for a variety of endurance sports periodicals and has been a long-time contributor to Active.com.
