Transforming the Difficult Child: the Nurtured Heart Approach by Howard Glasser

This book is about really 'difficult' children and how, through the Nurtured Heart Approach of Howard Glasser and Jennifer Easley, their lives and the lives of those who care about them can be transformed for the better. Already a major bestseller in the USA, this book offers parents and carers a new way of helping their intense child change and succeed. The Nurtured Heart Approach is about strategically creating actual experiences of success for children within the context of their activities and their relationships. The Approach is constructed in steps. Each step is defined by a recommended strategy that adds to the preceding steps in a way that builds a progressive framework and a complete system for parenting the most challenging child. Such techniques should be applied only as intensively as the situation merits. The authors reject the 'ritalin based' approach, believing instead that a challenging child can have an essential change of nature and can begin to use his or her intensity in remarkably positive ways.
"This is the approach I recommend" Patch Adams, MD renowned US Physician "I am filled with hope for my seven-year-old grandson who has been diagnosed as having ADHDI am also filled with remorse that no such approach was available for me to pursue with my eldest daughter who is now almost 40" Sonja Heimich - USA
