Gathering over 400 objects from the finest collections in Tuscany, it depicts Etruscan life and death, and includes ceramics; life-size sarcophagi and cinerary urns; tomb finds of bronze, amber, gold, silver and ivory; architectural reliefs and bronze figures from temples and sanctuaries.

The editor, Elizabeth Goring, was curator of the modern jewellery collection at the National Museums of Scotland.
