
Rebecca Caudill (1899-85) was the author of more than twenty books for children, including The Best-Loved Doll and A Certain Small Shepherd. Ms. Caudill's contributions to children's literature continue to be honored each year with the Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award.
Evaline Ness (1911-1986) illustrated more than thirty books for young readers and also wrote many of her own. In addition to winning the Caldecott Honor for A Pocketful of Cricket, she received the Caldecott Medal for Sam, Bangs, and Moonshine. Like Rebecca Caudill, she has left a huge mark on the world of children's literature.
