Trinity: A Portrait by Edward Stourton
Trinity: A Portrait is not a history so much as a thematic exploration of both the individual's experience of the College and the College's development in the university, national and global arenas. Edited by Edward Stourton, this is a splendid and beautiful book.
"The story of Trinity, well told in this book by many different voices, teaches us something modern Britain tends to ignore, which is that we have - or had - a genius for institutions" Charles Moore, The Telegraph.
Edward Stourton is a distinguished broadcaster and presenter. In 1976 he came up to Trinity to read English, and in his final year was president of the Cambridge Union Society. John Lonsdale is emeritus professor of modern African history and Fellow of Trinity College. Catharine Walston is freelance editor responsible for a number of publications on Cambridge colleges and institutions, including The University of Cambridge: An 800th Anniversary Portrait.
