Trompe l'Oeil at Home by Karen S Chambers
The art of trompe l'oeil has a lineage almost as long as the use of paint itself, with examples discovered in Ancient Egypt and Rome. This book shows how rooms can be magically transformed with trompe l'oeil murals, objects, paintings and fabrics, as well as with painted faux finishes. Small rooms can be visually heightened with skies or sunlight domes painted on the ceiling, wooden floors can be transformed into opulent marble expanses and sumptuous garden views can be added to windowless rooms. The book contains detailed information on the history and theory of trompe l'oeil.
