Trouble with Animals by Jeremy Strong
In Fox On The Roof, Robert and Beth find a family of foxes living in the school loft. They try to keep it secret and feed the cubs but soon the foxes cause chaos. In Dogs Are Different, Martin's family give him an Alsatian for Christmas without really thinking about it. Rather than lose his unsuitable pet, Martin runs away with his dog. They're soon found and the police are happy to train the Alsatian as Martin is reconciled to having a smaller dog. Tom searches for the right pet in Trouble With Animals and soon learns that animals never quite do what you want them to.
Jeremy Strong has been writing for children for many years and, until recently, combined this with being a primary school headteacher. He is hugely popular with children and won the 1997 Children's Book Award for The Hundred Mile-An-Hour Dog, and was shortlisted for the Award in 1998 for My Granny's Great Escape. Jeremy lives in Wrotham, Kent.
