Trout by Tom Rosenbauer

Northwest, this is a life s compilation of fly-fishing stories and photography. Each section features a photo gallery and an accompanying essay fish tales told in Tom Rosenbauer s unmistakably authentic voice on subjects including big-river mysteries, boats, and guides, wading and solitude, flies, and the trout themselves. For the fly fisherman, this is an album of shared experiences that exist only on these magical trout waters.
“A stunning coffee-table book, beautifully written (by Tom Rosenbauer, with a foreword by Callan Wink) and shot (by Brian Grossenbacher), featuring trout waters from all over the globe” —Monte Burke, Forbes Magazine

“Brian Grossenbacher’s photography… illustrates that if we keep looking carefully enough, we can always see fly fishing in a new light. At times we see solitary anglers dwarfed by panoramic landscapes, fishermen clearly less important than the sprawling watersheds they fish in. When we do see anglers in action, they tend to be peering upstream, casting, searching—not conquering heroes. And when they do bring trout to hand or net, it’s the trout we see, powerful and beautiful, the lithe wild center of those watersheds—brilliant portraits and images of browns, rainbows, brookies, their distinctiveness as species, which is hardly a platitude, on full display. And we see anglers—bearing down and lazing about, solemn and joyous, alone or with friends and family against the backdrop of the boisterousness of rivers or the comforts of the riverside. Along with this album of images, Tom Rosenbauer offers well-weathered essays that distill the essence of a lifetime of trout fishing—big rivers and small rivers, boats and gear, the conviviality and the solitude of it. He writes with succinct originality about every aspect of angling, casually offering gems of insight about the technical demands of fly fishing and the experience of it. His appreciation is still keen: ‘Every single trout stream I’ve ever fished has a unique feel and smell and combination of colors.’ In words and images, Trout revives and enlarges what we know and feel about trout fishing.” -- Gray's Sporting Journal

Trout offers readers an exciting tour of some of the world’s finest trout-fishing waters—from Appalachia to the Rockies and Pacific Northwest, to the Catskills and on to Patagonia… with Tom Roenbauer’s lifetime of stories and Brian Grossenbacher’s wondrous photography. Big-river mysteries, boats, and guides, wading and solitude, flies, and the trout themselves. A magical journey for both experienced and learning—and wannabe—fly fishers. And you won’t need to don your waders! This book is a treasure for any coffee table or book-shelf!” –The Enchanted Circle News (Eagle, NM)
