Trust and Power by Penny Casdagli

Drama has long been recognised as an effective medium not only for entertaining, but also for informing and educating audiences. Trust and Power is a sequence of interactive drama-based workshops that have been developed over seven years to explore with young people issues of protection, responsibility, self-esteem, relationship, community and control. Using situations from real life as a source of material, each workshop uses exercises, games, movement, sound, drawing, discussion, puppet plays and stories to examine the positive and negative aspects of their respective themes, and how they relate to the central themes of trust and power. Intended for teachers, social workers, therapists and other adults concerned with the welfare and safety of children, the workshops can be used with a range of ages and mixed language groups. The book also contains evaluations and follow-up ideas that explore the possible consequences and benefits of the workshops, and further plays and stories to use as alternative or supplementary material.
