Trust in Public Life by Claire Gilbert

Is the self-trust that leaders need to rule borne out of a lack of self-knowledge? How can the virtues of honesty, humility, compassion, and competence help to rebuild trust in our institutions? Claire Gilbert is the founder director of the Westminster Abbey Institute. A current and former member of numerous ethics committees., Dr Gilbert has played an instrumental role in the medical research ethics field, and has led efforts to shift the Church's thinking on environmental issues.

Josie Rourke is a theatre and film director and formerly the artistic director of the Bush Theatre (2007-11) and the Donmar Warehouse (2012-19). In 2018 Rourke made her feature-film debut with the Academy Award- and BAFTA-nominated film Mary Queen of Scots.

Anthony Ball is canon rector at Westminster Abbey and an assistant bishop on the Anglican diocese of Egypt. As a former member of the Diplomatic Service, he has been posted overseas in the Middle East and Spain, during which time he was ordained as a priest. He subsequently had roles in Lambeth Palace, school chaplaincy, and parish ministry.

James Hawkey is canon theologian of Westminster Abbey, a chaplain to King Charles III, and chair of the Westminster Abbey Institute. Canon Hawkey is also bye-fellow of Clare College, Cambridge, and holds visiting professorships in theology at King's College, London, and the Pontificia Università Gregoriana in Rome.

Anna Rowlands is St Hilda professor of Catholic social thought and practice in the Department of Theology and Religion at the University of Durham.
