Emma, Ellen Warwick's eleventh-generation Canadian daughter, lives with mom in Toronto. Ellen is a tenth-generation Canadian, according to her grandmother, which qualifies her as a true Canadian. Kim Smith was born and reared in the city of Calgary, Alberta. Her spouse, Eric, and a one-eyed goldfish named Goulash share her home. Kim has driven across Canada three times, taking in the sights and sounds of the country.

A Ticket Around the Globe (Owlkids Books) and Across the River and Through the Wood (Sterling, 2015) are two of her other children's novels. Kim's website is tuckedaway.com.
