Dec 08

A little book with a little price but with some good ideasBasically, all you do is roll a piece of felt tightly around a stick and bind or stitch it together. They can then be beaded, wrapped, made into tubes, threaded with other beads or knotted onto cords. Fun necklaces and wrist bands - even a hair slide are shown here. The photographs could be a little clearer but, at GBP4.99, who's going to complain. One for fun.

Winter 08

A novel idea for jewellery making with interesting patterns and designs based on fruit and sweet shapes. Apart from assorted beads this book incorporates the unusual material of felt in the making of earrings and necklaces. Material costs would not be excessive and the colours and designs are bright and cheerful being ideal for wearing with summer clothes.

* West Country Embroiderers *
Like so many beaders Stephanie Burnham's creative life started in another textile discipline. She took an Adult Education course entitled Art & Design in Embroidery and stayed on to take her City and Guilds in Embroidery. Stephanie was invited to teach at The Country Cross Stitcher and they are now in the 9th year of workshops for The Woburn School of Needlework. Here she teaches classes in both embroidery and beadwork from beginners to innovative and challenging techniques. Stephanie started beading quite unexpectedly whilst attending an Embroiderers Guild meeting in Letchworth and was hooked after about half an hour. Stephanie was thrilled to be chosen to teach as the Great British Bead Show held in Coventry.
