Two Runs of Stone Heart's Desire by Steven Nielsen

Two Runs of Stone is an epic in historical fiction set in the late 1800's and is the result of fifteen years of concerted effort. Actual journals of some of the women and men who lived and died during the era provide the foundation of the work, not to mention their Danish, English, and American ancestors. As Book I of the series opens Peter Jensen and company are underway, however not everyone in the original party decides to leave the outlaying plains of Atchison. Two young men married local girls and at least a dozen others including eight Mormons who decide that the growing area was exactly what they were hoping to find in America.
Steven D. Nielsen is a history buff and business owner. He and his wife, Susan, are parents of five children and ten grandchildren. Houston, Texas has been home for the past 40 years where Mr. Nielsen has served in two bishoprics, as Scoutmaster, early morning Seminary Teacher, and mission leader, with missionary work being his passion. Scandinavian roots and pride in Church heritage provided the driving force behind the fifteen-year project, which became the exciting and epic saga, Two Runs of Stone.
