
Eric Drexler is a well-known American engineer who is often regarded as the father of nanotechnology. During his time at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Drexler highlighted molecular nanotechnology's promise. He graduated from MIT with three degrees: a B.S., a M.S., and a Ph.D. M.S. in Multidisciplinary Sciences and a Ph.D. in Astro/Aerospace Engineering
from MIT's Media Lab His doctoral thesis on molecular nanotechnology, Nanosystems: Molecular Machinery, Manufacture, and Computing (1992), was the first on the subject. The book was named the Best Computer Science Book of 1992 by the Association of American Publishers. He is currently based in Oxford, England.
