The Unbudgeable Curmudgeon by Matthew Burgess
A BANK STRET BEST BOK OF THE YEAR For any kid or parent that's having a bit of a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, this book is an instant pick me up. Great for siblings, too --Red Tricycle After reading aloud, listeners might discover their own ways to unbudge curmudgeons.--Publishers WeeklyPlayful language and a subtly rhyming text create an enjoyable read-aloud about frustrations and bad moods. --Booklist What do you do with a curmudgeon that just won't budge? Why, shake off the grumpy 'tude and embrace the fun Have you ever seen a curmudgeon that looks like your brother, but is in such a bad mood you hardly recognize him? You can try all the peanut butter sandwiches and brownies you have, but he is not moving. Nothing works, especially nudging, and he just makes you so grumpy that eventually you have no choice but to fight back--and then. Have you ever become a curmudgeon that just won't budge? Matthew Burgess's playful depiction of bad moods and sibling rivalry is matched perfectly by Fiona Woodcock's unique childlike art style.
Matthew Burgess is one of the four founders and directors of Vision Legal, a specialty firm. He is particularly enthusiastic about the possibility to assist clients in achieving their objectives. Matthew has developed a number of game-changing models in collaboration with trusted advisors (whether accountants, financial advisers, or other lawyers) and their clients. Finding ways to fundamentally increase the value obtained by those advisers, and hence their clients, has lead him to create a number of game-changing models. Providing guaranteed upfront fixed pricing, launching Australia's first virtual law company, and, most recently, developing a platform that provides advisers with market-leading advice and support for less than $1 per week are just a few examples. Matthew has been recognized by most key industry organisations for his expertise in tax, structuring, asset protection, estate and succession planning, including the Tax Institute, the Weekly Tax Bulletin, and the 2014 'Best Lawyers' list for trusts and estates.
Employment is one area of Matthew's life that he enjoys, so there's no need for him to continuously seek 'balance.' Other major passions of his include: 1. Family - they are featured in a number of ways in the series of children's books he has written under the alias 'Lily Burgess' - see www.wordsfromdaddysmouth.com.au and several TV ads; 2. Learning - in late 2005, Matthew went cold turkey on television and most forms of media, significantly increasing his ability to study great literature and inspiring him to publish a book that investigates the concept of 'real success' - see www.thedreamenabler.com.au 3.
Other from being a gourmand and swimming at least 5km every week, Matthew built a stand-up workstation in 2007 and it altered his life, along with a few other lifestyle decisions.
