Henri Barbusse was born on the 17th of August. Born in Asnières-sur-Seine, Paris, in May 1873 (alternative birth year: 1874) and died at the age of 30. Moskau, August 1935. He was a French politician as well as a writer. His world-famous Kriegsroman Das Feuer, published in 1916 and later translated into more than 60 languages, made him famous, and he received the Prix Goncourt, France's most prestigious literary prize, the same year.
