In 1971, Paul Levitz became the editor of The Comic Reader, the first comics newszine, which won two Best Fanzine Comic Art Fan Awards. He is a member of the board of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and has received the Inkpot Award and the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award. Levitz is recognized for his writing, which includes a critically lauded run on the Legion of Super-Heroes, which he has returned to. Levitz joined DC in 1973 and was the company's youngest editor at the time. He rose through the ranks to become publisher in 1989 and president and publisher from 2002 to 2009.
