
In 1923, Avram Davidson was born in Yonkers, New York. After attending New York University, he joined the Marine Corps in 1942 and served until 1946, returning to see duty during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Davidson edited Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine for two years in the early 1960s. For his science fiction writing, he received numerous prizes and distinctions throughout his life, including the Hugo Award, the Edgar Award, the Ellery Queen Award, and three World Fantasy Awards. Davidson passed away in 1993.
