Venice by Damien Simonis

This guide to Venice gives the low-down on places to stay, from hostel dorms to spectacular palazzi. It offers coverage of Venice's many festivals, from gondola regattas to the Venice International Film Festival, and a guide to the Grand Canal and its bridges, churches and palaces.

DAMIEN SIMONIS was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East. He began producing travel guidebooks and essays for periodicals in Australia, the United Kingdom, and North America in 1992 and hasn't stopped since. From the Ukraine to Sudan, from the Alps to the Red Sea, his wanderings have taken him. In the 1980s, Simonis got his first experience of international travel in Germany. He returned to Berlin on numerous study visits at the Cold War, and he was a frequent visitor during that time. Despite the fact that he now resides in the sunnier climes of Barcelona, Spain, his love for Germany, and particularly Berlin, has never dimmed.
