A Very Proper Fox by Jan Fearnley
This is a warm and humorous story about being true to yourself, from the highly-regarded author-illustrator of "Billy Tibbles Moves Out"! Frankie, the Fox loves baked beans and dancing, but Naughty Rabbit says that proper foxes don't jig about! Proper foxes catch chicken. So Frankie steals down the lane to the chicken's house. He licks his lips, he flexes his claws, he growls like a proper fox, low and mean. 'I'm coming to get you!' But instead of a big, fat chicken, Frankie finds a big fat mess that he can't help tidying. Will Frankie ever be a proper fox?
