A View from the Wings by Ronald Millar
"A View from the Wings" is an inside story of the Thatcher years - and more besides - by a man whose life has been spent putting words into other people's mouths. Millar had originally been recruited into political speechwriting for Edward Heath, but it was his work on speeches for Mrs Thatcher that helped create the tone of the "Thatcher years". After her resignation he was recalled to Downing Street by John Major for his first party conference as Prime Minister and again for the 1992 General Election. Ronald Millar records some 20 years of voluntary service to three Prime Ministers. However, "A View from the Wings" is also the story of his life in the theatre writing plays - "Frieda", "The Bride and the Bachelor", "The Affair" and "The Masters" (both dramatized from the C.P. Snow novels), "Robert and Elizabeth", "Abelard and Heloise" - and of a spell in Hollywood working with some of the outstanding names of the film industry.| SKU | Unavailable |
