A Village Affair by Julie Houston
Warm, witty and wonderful, the new novel from bestseller Julie Houston is perfect for fans of Katie Fforde and Gervaise Phinn.
A lovely read with three very strong women [..] who handled everything that life threw at them with aplomb
I'm so pleased I chose to read it as it's simply brilliant
Held me to the very last page, a great mood lifter
Absorbing, enjoyable and heart-warming. Books like this are the reason I read and although they are rare they are always worth waiting for
It had enough characters to be interesting, enough red herrings to make the love interest a surprise, enough plot to move the story along and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing * Alison Robinson, NetGalley *
A lovely village, wonderful friends and family, and plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested
So heart-warming and full of heartbreak, starting again, fighting for what is right and romance
This book is set to become one of my guilty pleasures, perfect to read wrapped in a duvet and drinking hot chocolate
A beautifully written story about a village. A village full of lovable, independent, amazing people
Simply wow! Amazing
I thoroughly enjoyed this warm, big-hearted read and would recommend to all
Loved it. More please

Julie Houston lives in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire where her novels are set, and her only claims to fame are that she teaches part-time at Bridget Jones author Helen Fielding's old junior school and her neighbour is Chocolat author, Joanne Harris. After university, where she studied Education and English Literature, she taught for many years as a junior school teacher. As a newly qualified teacher, broke and paying off her first mortgage, she would spend every long summer holiday working on different Kibbutzim in Israel. After teaching for a few years she decided to go to New Zealand and taught in Auckland for a year before coming back to Britain. Julie now only teaches when the phone rings asking her to go in for supply work, but still loves the buzz of teaching junior-aged children. She has been a magistrate for the past twenty years, and, when not distracted by eBay, Twitter and Ancestry, spends much of her time writing. Julie is married, with two adult children and a ridiculous Cockerpoo called Lincoln. She runs and swims because she's been told it's good for her, but would really prefer a glass of wine, a sun lounger and a jolly good book – preferably with Dev Patel in attendance.
