Tory Brennan, niece of acclaimed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan (of the Bones novels and hit TV show), is the leader of a ragtag band of teenage sci-philes who live on a secluded island off the coast of South Carolina. She is a professor of anthropology in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and one of only 79 forensic anthropologists ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. She is also a past Vice President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a member of the National Police Services Advisory Board in Canada.
