A Voice for the Child by Janusz Korczak

Janusz Korczak is recognized as one of the worlds's most original thinkers on children who put his ideas into practice in a powerful and inspiring way. During his lifetime he gained huge recognition as a doctor, writer, psychologist, philosopher, principle of two orphanages and educator. Korczak devoted his life to children, living and working amongst them all his life. His theories are revered by Bruno Bettleheim and Alice Miller. Studies of his work have been made in over 20 languages. For many people he is considered a saint and a martyr. His orphange was in the Jewish Ghettos of Warsaw and when the clearing began he was urged by friends and the Nazis (who were anxious not to attract attention to such a well known world figure) to abandon the orphanage. Korczak steadfastly refused to leave his children and when the time came he calmly walked with them to the train that was to take them to Treblinka. This book contains a short biography and over 100 inspirational quotations on children.
"For the World today, Jaunusz Korczak is a symbol of true religion and true morality" Pope John Paul II
Sandra Josephs, the Editor of this book is a children's therapist. She is passionate about Korczak's ideas and is determined to make him as well known in the UK as Oskar Schindler.
