Franz Brentano wird 1838 in Marienberg am Rhein in einer berü¾˜¶˜¼hmten katholischen Familie als Neffe von Clemens Brentano und Bettina von Arnim geboren. Von 1856 bis 1862 studiert Brentano Mathematik, Dichtung, Philosophie und Theologie in Mü¾˜¶˜¼nchen, Wü¾˜¶˜¼rzburg, Berlin und Mü¾˜¶˜¼nster. Nach einem Aufenthalt im Dominikanerkonvent in Graz wird er zum Priester geweiht, gerü¾†”¼t aber mit seiner ablehnenden Haltung dem Unfehlbarkeitsdogma des Papstes gegenü¾˜¶˜¼ber schnell in Konflikt mit der Kirche und tritt 1879 aus der Kirche aus.Seine vielbesuchten Vorlesungen wie auch die erfolgreiche schriftstellerische Tü¾†”¼tigkeit haben eine weitreichende Wirkung auf die wissenschaftliche ü¾¦¼ffentlichkeit seiner Zeit. In Psychologie vom empirischen Standpunkt entwickelt Brentano die Lehre von der philosophischen Psychologie als Bewuü¾™¦¼tseinsphilosophie, die ihn gleichzeitig zu einem Wegbereiter der Phü¾†”¼nomenologie macht. Zu seinen Schü¾˜¶˜¼lern zü¾†”¼hlen Edmund Husserl, Alexander Meinong, Sigmund Freud und Rudolf Steiner.Franz Brentano stirbt 1917 in der Schweiz.
